How do you know if you are depressed ?


Depression is one of the most common diseases that affect people every day. People can be depressed and not even know it . Your symptoms may be masked by other physiological problems , while depression is often overlooked and is diagnosed much later , after ruling out other disorders.

So how do you know people who are depressed ? There are some symptoms , a person must possess to be considered clinically depressed. You must have at least five of the following eight symptoms to be diagnosed with clinical depression .

1. Sleep disorders . People who are depressed usually complain of changes in their sleep patterns . Most of these people complain that they have trouble sleeping , but there's people who sleep more than usual .

2 . The decrease in interest . Depressed people do not usually keep doing their favorite things they did. This can vary from cooking, shopping, or even watch TV.

3 . The feelings of guilt . Some depressed people say they feel guilty about being depressed and want their disease does not affect your love life or your own .

4 . Decreased energy levels . There is a significant drop in energy levels in depressed people . They say they do not have enough energy to cook , daily tasks, or even go to work .

5 . Decreasing concentration levels . It is difficult for a person who is depressed to concentrate for a long period of time. This can cause problems in the workplace or in personal relationships .

6 . Changes in appetite. Most people who are depressed say they have reduced their food intake, but there are some who say that your appetite increases actually cause weight gain .

7 . Psychomotor agitation . Depressed people often say that their thinking is reduced, so they act and move at a slower pace accordingly.

8 . Suicide . The most disturbing symptom of depression is suicide risk . If people say they want to end their lives , always ask if they have a plan in place . If they do , they are committed to a hospital immediately consult a doctor before it's too late.

These features should be exposed for a minimum of two consecutive weeks with a diagnosis of clinical depression . Once a person has been diagnosed , there are several treatment options to choose from. These range from individual or group therapy with single or multiple drugs electro convulsive therapy , even (shock ) for those who need immediate treatment that can not tolerate the drug.

So if you think you or someone you know is depressed, ask if they have the above symptoms, and for how long .
